AI for Social Good: Empowering the Next Generation
AI for social good encapsulates initiatives that harness artificial intelligence to tackle pressing social issues. As AI technology advances, its applications are increasingly pivotal in addressing global challenges such as environmental conservation and the protection of endangered species.
This book was commissioned by several international organizations to educate young people worldwide about the potential of AI in solving social problems and contributing positively to society. Designed for upper elementary to middle school students, the book presents AI concepts in an accessible and engaging manner.
The content starts with a straightforward introduction to AI and its functionalities, followed by real-world case studies where AI has been effectively employed. It also includes interactive workbook activities that encourage students to explore and discuss potential AI solutions. This hybrid textbook-workbook format is ideal for both individual and group activities, suitable for classroom or home settings, and available in both e-book and paperback to accommodate various preferences. This volume, V.1, is the first in a two-part series.
Accompanying this book is a Teacher’s Guide, which provides instructional support to educators planning to integrate this resource into their teaching, whether in classrooms or workshops.
Through this book, we aim to inspire young minds to apply AI in innovative ways to solve social issues, thereby contributing to a safer and more sustainable future. (Published in 2024)
